Indigenous Veterans Day
to the
wind walkers
trail trackers
code talkers,
soldiers slaughtered,
to the
stolen statuses
bloody fields
nations filled
with red losses,
to the
heritages oppressed
tribes distressed
empty headdress’
lest you forget,
the red soldiers
rights taken
spirits forsaken
unmarked graves,
we remember
every 8th of november
the sacrifices made
for all future generations
by the warrior braves
our sacred Indigenous veterans.

November 8th is Indigenous Veterans Day, many Indigenous peoples faced disenfranchisement, citizenry oppression and shame as they skillfully fought for a country that continues to take advantage of the generosity and servitude of Indigenous peoples.
I honour these brave warriors today.
With Indigenous love,
Kim
