Red and Brown Honey's All Around
LOOK AT ALL THE BEAUTIFULLY TALENTED INDIGENOUS WOMEN I GET TO WITNESS AND WORK WITH THIS WEEK!!!!
Wednesday I have the fortune of going to the opening night of the Coast Salish leg of the Hot Brown Honey tour!
"Packing a punch of hip hop politics, the Honeys will make you laugh, cry, clap and shake what your mama gave you. This stellar posse of phenomenal women make noise as they defiantly smash stereotypes and remix the system. Fighting the power never tasted so sweet."

On another exciting note of extracting the patriarchy - my new play Kamloopa heads into a 2 day workshop at the Cultch this week! I get to work with the incredibly talented Quelemia Sparrow, Kaitlyn Yott and Tai Grauman. I also have the powerhouse PHD candidate Lindsay LaChance acting as the Dramaturg.
Kamloopa is a commission for Western Canada Theatre and The Cultch is generously donating the space for this workshop. Limelet to both of these organizations for rigorously supporting Indigenous women. Who knows how both this org's will be intersecting with Kamloopa in the fuuuuuutuuure.....
A sneak peak about Kamloopa - the story centres around 3 Indigenous women's journey to understand their own Indigeneity and how the connection to self, intersects with the power of our ancestral kinship. We are going to be exploring the idea of Indigenous theatre as a form of ceremony, how Indigenous presencing actualizes in western theatre and how Matriarchs will inform and impact the evolution of contemporary Indigenous storytelling.
Matriarchy Matriarchy Matriarchy.
Okay - gotta go work on the script. Stay tuned for more insights into my journey!
