New Year New Ideas

I listened to a podcast about how 20 guys in Silicon Valley are basically controlling the brains of social media users -as if decolonizing wasn't hard enough- so at the beginning of 2018 I said goodbye to it all.

Lots of studies show that social media itself isn't harmful - it's how we engage with it that can negatively impact us. I found that it was giving me a false sense of community. In one instance, it had been 2 months since I had seen a particular friend and they said "it's like I see you everyday because of your insta stories." That terrified me.

So, fuck those false realities and fuck those bastards in the Silicon - I'm reclaiming my time, my brain and my relationships.
